For me, photography is about exploration. It's a window into other worlds--some of them real, some of them not. My goal is to create interesting, dynamic images that people will enjoy looking at. I am primarily a location shooter. The majority of my work is not done in a studio. I enjoy the challenge of location work, and people are usually more comfortable in their own space. Assignment work I will usually shoot small format digital, though medium and large format film are available upon request. Though I am skilled at manipulating images in Photoshop, I prefer to use the software for creating composite images and color effects. The best retouching is done in front of the camera, not behind the computer.
I was born in Van Nuys, California, but I grew up in Palmdale and Lancaster, about an hour's drive to the north of Los Angeles. I have enjoyed taking pictures since I was a child documenting family vacations and Boy Scout camping trips with a 110 instamatic. My interest became serious when I took a basic photo class at Antelope Valley College shortly after graduating high school. In 2006, I graduated from Brooks Institute of Photography with a B.A. in Professional Photography, emphasis in Industrial/Scientific Photography, and since then, I have assisted corporate, editorial and architectural photographers in Boston, San Diego, and Los Angeles. I have also worked as a retoucher for a publisher in Orange County. I am based at the foot of the Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles.
